Starfleet Exo-cultural report
Race: Imorrian

Home World: IMORRA (third Planet - G Class)
Orbital Star(s):
GJ8341 & GJ8341b (Beta Quadrant)
Civilization Classification: 14
Estimated Population: 136 million
Appearance: Bipedal, biomechanical Humanoid.  The type of mechanical components and total amount present vary from individual to individual, and usually accounts for 30 to 70 percent of their full body structure.

Physical characteristics:
Standing on average 1.65 meters tall, Imorrian have no gender specifications. Reproduction is done utilizing a complex biomechanical process needing a biological volunteer.
Overview:
The Imorrians are a perfect blend of biological and cybernetic components, a race that has evolved over millennia. Skilled at manipulating constructed materials Imorrians have become experts in recycling and reusing technical components from other worlds. With their help, the Federation was able to bring back old class of vessels into active service following the many conflicts which depleted resources and reduced the fleet to a mere fraction of what it had been many years ago.

Planetary Report:
IMORRA is the third planet orbiting a dual star system. GJ 8341 is only 4% larger than its companion star allowing them to be in close proximity of one another without one pulling the other into a tighter orbit. Unfortunately this proximity creates at varying intervals powerful solar flares and magnetic shock waves which can be felt throughout the entire solar system.

Due to the interaction of these solar flares with the highly polarized ores found throughout the planetary rings, the planet and its immediate surroundings are often exposed to powerful magnetic distortions capable to knocking out a vessel's system. The planet's high gravitational pull also cause problems pulling into the atmosphere any object coming within the ring's orbit of the planet.

Overview of Civilization's History:
According to the race's own myths and lore, an alien probe, guessed to have originated from the same planet that saw the creation of V-Ger, crashed on the imorrian home world some 3000 years ago. The living probe was eventually discovered by the primitive native population and after some time a basic level of communication was established.  One day a member of the indigenous inhabitants agreed to merge with the probe providing it with the ability to repair itself and move about.

The newly created biomechanical life form was, out of primal fear from other indigenous inhabitants, banished to a remote set of mountains where it simply survived waiting for a way to complete it's basic programing; that of returning to its point of origin.

Several centuries later an exploration vessel unprepared to deal with the powerful magnetic distortions and the strong planetary gravity pull crashed on the planet. It was found by the new biomechanical prode which used the newly obtained materials to "upgraded" itself as well as several of the native population that came to investigate the crash site and who had accepted the offer to be made into something better than they were.  Although no longer alone and possessing more material, the newly created biomechanical life forms were still unable to complete the probe's primary function, so falling back on their biological drive to form a community they created the foundation of a unique civilization - the Imorrian.

Over the next few centuries several more ships crashed onto the planet's surface providing the imorrians with the material needed to, by choice of the local and alien biological life forms, increase their numbers and eventually be able to reconstruct a warp capable ship.

Having studied the effects of their suns' flares on the planet's rings, the Imorrians were capable to creating a vessel that would escape the planet, but by that time the living probe's initial directive had been lost leaving with the imorrians with nothing more than a desire to see the universe.

Dealing with new and sometimes hostile races, the Imorrians were only able to increase their numbers thanks to the acceptance of some in exchange for their expertise at using available materials to build and repair.  In 2393 a Federation exploration vessel came across the wondering Imorrian vessel and offered assistance.  Once back on EARTH, volunteers suffering from terminal diseases or extreme malformation were given the option to join the Imorrian helping everyone in the process.

With greater numbers and access to vessels able to travel back to their home world, the Imorrian returned to IMORRA in 2412 where they rapidly created a thriving civilization with the continued help and support of the United Federation of Planets.
