Background
Born on a remote Romulan border colony, T’Lara was the product of a secret relationship between a Vulcan scientist and a Romulan diplomat. When her Romulan father's political rivals discovered her existence, her mother fled with her to a Vulcan monastery, where she was taught to suppress her emotions and follow the path of logic in accordance to Surak's teachings.
Despite her Vulcan upbringing, Starfleet Intelligence saw potential in her unique genetic heritage, particularly her aptitude for toxicology, biochemistry, and field medicine. They trained her as a combat medic specializing in biological warfare and covert extractions. Over the years, she performed classified operations, healing those in the field while also knowing how to permanently silence threats when necessary.
Personality:
Composed but Haunted – Outwardly, T'Lara embodies the calm demeanor expected of a Vulcan, but she has moments where her Romulan side emerges, showing flashes of passion, frustration, or even defiance. Her logical side will reason actions she has taken, but her passionate side will often make her question what she did.
Morally Pragmatic – She saves lives, but she also understands that sometimes, the best way to protect others is through less conventional (or ethical) means.
Tactically Minded – Unlike most doctors, she doesn’t hesitate to use lethal force if necessary. Her Romulan instincts give her an edge in combat, though she often questions if she is straying too far from the Vulcan ideals she was raised with.
Private and Guarded – She keeps her personal struggles hidden, unwilling to let others see the war inside her. Doing so might reveal weaknesses that she is not willing to face let alone accept.
Skills and Strengths:
Xenomedicine Expert – She has extensive knowledge of humanoid physiology, including hard-to-treat alien species.
Toxicology and Poisons – Whether creating an antidote or something deadlier, she knows her way around biochemical substances.
Covert Field Medicine – Unlike most Starfleet doctors, she is trained for black ops medical support, stabilizing patients in hostile environments and leaving no trace.
Hand-to-Hand Combat – Unlike most Vulcans, she isn't afraid to use lethal force, blending Vulcan nerve strikes with Romulan blade techniques, which when combined with her knowledge of alien anatomy can prove deadly.
Understanding T'Lara
Raised on Vulcan, T'Lara was taught to suppress her emotions in accordance with Surak's teachings. However, her Romulan heritage makes this discipline an ongoing struggle. The passion and fire of her Romulan blood conflict with the cold logic of her Vulcan training, leading to moments of internal turmoil. Outwardly, she presents the composed demeanor expected of a Vulcan, but beneath the surface, she fights to balance the warring sides of her nature.
Her Romulan lineage also means that she is not fully trusted by Vulcans and is often viewed with suspicion by Romulans. As a result, she has developed a sharp wit and an independent streak, unwilling to let others define her.
Challenges and Conflicts
T'Lara walks the razor-thin line between two worlds... Vulcan logic and Romulan passion, healer and executioner, duty and personal survival. Trained to suppress her emotions but forged in the fires of war, she fights not just to save lives, but to keep her own soul intact.
Emotional Control – While trained as a Vulcan, she is not fully successful in suppressing emotions, especially under stress.
Trust Issues – She is often seen as neither fully Vulcan nor Romulan, making it difficult for her to form close relationships.
Moral Ambiguity – Working in intelligence operations means she sometimes faces ethically gray decisions, such as whether to heal an enemy combatant or administer a silent poison to neutralize a threat.
Appearance and Demeanor
T'Lara carries herself with the poise of a Vulcan, but there's an intensity in her gaze that hints at her Romulan side. Her features are sharp and refined, with a mix of Vulcan and Romulan traits, perhaps slightly more expressive than a full Vulcan, but still restrained.
Her uniform is Starfleet standard, though she prefers practical, tactical modifications suited for fieldwork. When on covert assignments, she blends seamlessly into her surroundings, adapting her appearance as needed.
