Starfleet Exo-cultural report
Race: J'Den
Home Dimension: 000 / -048 / 000
Home World: Ju'Denaara (fourth planet - Class H)
Orbital Star(s):
 Jaa'Der
Civilization Classification: 14
Estimated Population: 1.21 million
Appearance: Bipedal Humanoid where the females display circular angled horns protruding from the side of their heads while males have no such discerning characteristic.

Physical characteristics:
Appearing physically strong and robust, b
oth male and female possess a natural strength equal to that of Vulcans and Klingons.  Their endurance and stamina allow them to work between 50 to 80 hours uninterrupted by the need for sleep, requiring only minor rest.  The J'Den normally stand on average 1.5 to 1.8 meters tall and have a standard life span of about 60 years.
Overview:
The race was encountered by the crew of the USS BASTET on stardate 31200.1 after having been pulled through a dimensional hole.  Shutaar, the leader of the race introduced herself and explained that they had been keeping an eye on our specific dimension and the Federation they discovered there.

Planetary Report:
Ju'Denaara was a lushious M-Class world resembling EARTH in its ecological diversity, fauna and flora, but following multiple invasions over the centuries as well as the enslavement of the local race, the homeworld of the J'Den was rendered uninhabitable.  In time few thousand survivors made their way out to the stars to seek refuge.  Although now possessing the technology to reclaim their world, the amount of time and resources required is beyond what the race can dedicate at this time.

Overview of Civilization's History:
Roughly three thousand years ago Ju'Denaara, the homeworld of the J'Den, was invaded and the entire planet's population, which was for the most part at that time agriculturally aimed, was easily enslaved. This occupation lasted for about two hundred years at which time a new invader, this one originating from another dimension, waged war against the occupying forces.  The war which lasted only a few months decimated the majority of the planet's natural habitat and placed the J'Den under and even more demanding masters.

Before the first occupation the J'Den population counted slightly over 450 million inhabitants, but by the end of "War of the Masters" the planet's indigenous population had been reduced to a less than 35 million. During the second occupation the males of the J'Den were forced into work camps where they were made to strip bare what was left of the planet's natural resources. The females were for the most part taken off world and used as personal slaves while a few were taken for arena-style combat entertainment or even scientific experimentation.

After nearly two thousand years of enslavement the cultural divide between the J'Den males and females had led the race to count less than 10 million individuals. In order to maintain their labour force the Masters decided to begin more intensive genetic research on the race in the hopes of lengthening the life span. Instead, the genetic work actually led to the standard life span of the J'Den to be reduced by several decades but in exchange the genetically modified members found that their natural healing abilities had improved by a factor in excess of 30 fold.

Using infants from other enslaved races, the Masters worked on a genetic splicing technique meant to give members of other races the strength, endurance and now hyper rapid regeneration of the J'Den to others.  For an unknown reason, the Masters decided to add horns to the newly created individuals, possibly to make them easier to identify in public or should they attempt to escape captivity.  The genetic research proved successful to the point where the DNA of the original test subjects was nearly completely replaced by that of the J'Den.  Unbeknownst to the Masters though, their research and genetic work also led to the female to pass on their accumulated memories to the recipient of their DNA. Thanks to this, the J'Den females began to slowly form a resistance force against the Masters, using knowledge and skills passed down from generation to generation.

After a few centuries the J'Den females had managed to gather enough knowledge about the Masters to not only undermine their control of the planet but to cripple the whole infrastructure of the Masters' society.  Not willing to admit defeat so easily the Masters laid waste to the planet and slave population before leaving.  The few thousand survivors were forced to leave Ju'Denaara and use whatever means they had at their disposal to keep themselves and their race alive.  Making use of whatever technology had been left behind by the Masters, the J'Den managed to quickly develop space faring, warp speed and even transdimensional travel capabilities.

Following thousands of years not naturally reproducing, the survivors attempted genetic cloning but soon found out that their best chance to see the J'Den race prosper was to continue with the Master's work in passing down genetic identity onto others.  Not wishing to impose their will onto others as they had suffered for so very long, the J'Den females decide to seek out volunteers for the procedure.  Although such volunteers were small in numbers it was enough to keep the race from falling into negative growth.

Both males and females are capable of passing on their genetic material and code to others, granting the receiving volunteer greater strength, endurance and rapid regeneration, but only the females are also capable of passing on their gathered memories.  This, added to the centuries of the males being forced into the most basic physical tasks created the J'Den culture as it stands no; a matriarchal society where the males are almost looked upon as second class citizens.

Following the encounter with the crew of the USS BASTET, the J'Den began a long transition period during which the males of the race would be looked upon as more than mere laborers all this while efforts to terraform their original homeworld began.  During the month-long exchange of information and help with the BASTET, schematics for a "temporal drive" were obtained from the J'Den who had hoped to one day develop this technology in order to go back in time and stop the invasion of their world and the decimation of their people.
