“Tasty Treat”

ANI was going through the plan that Lt Commander Maya and her had discussed and was currently running several calculations as to what item would best suit their needs.  Using details of personal logs, items find in their respective quarters and recorded snippets of conversations,

ANI had been given an immeasurable amount of raw data to worth with.  After some basic filtering though, several possibilities had presented themselves but the variables were seemingly endless.

From behind the Captain’s desk the Shillian looked over and saw ANI standing seemingly motionless in the middle of the room, but knew that no matter how still the avatar looked there were hundreds if not thousands of calculations and possibilities running through her system.

[/\] Doctor Doyanne to Lt Commander Maya, [/\] the comm badge chirped interrupting her thoughts.

“Go ahead doctor,” the Shillian stated.

[/\] Got it, it’s small but usable, [/\] the CMO stated with a bit of excitement.

“ANI, we have a beam, we just need to know what to send,” the acting first officer stated.

“I know what to send, we just have to make sure Lt Paquette gets it,” ANI confirmed with a grin that seemed out of place for the Avatar.

“Why does the engineer need to receive it?” Maya asked curiously.

“She will know it is from me, and understand the message without any problem,” ANI all but laughed, making the EXO give her a curious look.

Sonja had been slowly pacing trying to burn off some the nervous energy she had. It was nice to see that the Aki… that had entered so suddenly had retreated to the far end of the vast space keeping to themselves as they didn’t truly see the crew of the ANUBIS.  Based on their greater size, strength, speed and agility it was easy to imagine that their treat level had been low.   This suited the CEO just fine as she did not trust them one bit.  She certainly did not have the sunshine and lollipops outlook Seska had which bordered naïve.  However as the councillor pointed out doctors in general were far more optimistic in nature. Possibly this helped them perform their duties.

Sonja was distracted in her thoughts as she noticed a small flicker by the back far wall, near where the rest of the crew had been sitting.  There is was again… the engineer’s curiosity was as always getting the best of her, so she moved cautiously in the direction not wanting to attract attention from either the AKI or her shipmates, just in case.  She approaches slowly and scanned the area and spots something… she could not quite believe what she eventually discovered.  She crouched down to pick up the small items and looked them over with a grin.  Yup, this indeed what she thought.  She started to giggle almost uncontrollably, drawing the attention and curious looks form her close by shipmates. The CEO approached them laughing full out at this point.

“Great the warp core withdraw chose now to hit,” Toskk stated with a heavy sigh.

“Not at all you great Lumox,” Sonja giggled, addressing the others.  “We have a message from above,” the CEO stated with a grin as she extended her hand to show what she had discovered.

“By the Prophets… what…” Seska stated.

At the same time the counselor exclaimed, “What is the meaning of this?”

“Cookies… cookies really?” Stark stated with a rather incredulous look on his face.

“Seems a bit odd, how would they know it’s from us let alone what it means?” the security officer stated as she joined her fellow Ensign in questioning the validity of the plan that they had just now been informed of.

“We needed to send an item that someone on the away team would recognize without drawing any undesired attention from anyone else,” Maya explained.  “With the help of ANI we were able to narrow the field of possibilities down to this particular item.”

“Alright,” Ensign Stark finally accepted, “but how will they know for sure that they came from us?”

“Lieutenant Paquette had personally mentioned the chocolate chip cookies in a conversation with me,” the Avatar stated. “When compared to all other possibilities that were small enough to be beamed down, recognizable by someone from the away team and innocent enough in appearance to be ignored by everyone else, the cookies had the highest probability of achieving the intended goal.”

“Based on the research done by ANI,” Maya jumped back in with.  “The cookies were the best choice, the purple coloring of the chips was my idea,” the acting ExO added as she glanced back at the Avatar’s own head of hair.

“These are from my girl ANI,” Sonja says with a southern accent and a laugh. “They know where we are and the others are safe,” the engineer continued confidently with a grin.

"You do know she is an android and not a real girl, right?" Shar'El asked thinking that perhaps the CEO had gone completely mad.

“What makes you say that?” Counselor Dalziel asked of the engineer, ignoring for the time being the comment made by the ILO.

“First there are purple chips, which can only be ANI,” Sonja stated matter-of-factly.  “Second there are six cookies, ANI would not overlook anyone, so that means the others are on the ship, safe,” the ships engineer stated with finality.

It was then that the redhead noticed the four officers were looking at her with rather bemused looks, as she chomped happily on one of the cookies.

She extended her hand with the cookies and said, “Want one, they are quite good?”
