Setting: NEW ALEXANDRIA, Section H, Level 8, Training Holodeck 1
Stardate: 63071.1530

The young woman walked a few steps behind the ANUBIS' Chief of Operations, the two of them still trying to figure out a way out of the training exercise that they had been forced into.

"I really don't get it," Elliot offered with a sigh. "Why would Admiral Koneki send us into a holographic maze? Training exercises, at least from what I understand of them, are designed to put individuals and teams up against a situation that they may encounter out there during a mission. Finding your way out of maze seems rather unlikely unless we come up against some giant alien race dress in white lab coats." The COO paused for an instant and turned to look back at the redheaded Captain having expected some kind of comment… or at the very least a chuckle or snicker. "Captain?"

The site-to-site transport that had plucked the ANUBIS' CO from the holodeck had brought her to stand directly in front of Allyson, the receptionist and secretary to Admiral Koneki.

"Good afternoon Captain Rikar," the blonde receptionist quickly offered with a generous smile. "I hope that this unexpected transport did not cause you any discomfort or inconveniences."

"I'm guessing the Admiral want so see me *now*," Rikar sighed as she shook her head in disbelief. Koneki had a way with people, ignoring them for weeks at a time until he *needed* to see them, at which point the word *immediately* took on a whole new definition.

Allyson smiled and nodded her head as she invited the redheaded woman to step into the Admiral's office.

"Seeing us running around in circles no longer entertained you?" Rikar rhetorically queried as she approached the Admiral's desk.

"I am truly sorry for that Captain," Koneki countered with in a tone that hinted to the seriousness of the situation. "Have a seat," the Admiral continued as he stood from his chair and once again gazed out through the large window onto the SCARAB-Class ship whose Captain had been in his office.

"Why do I have the feeling that this is going to mean bad news for me and my crew," Sabrina commented as she eased herself into one of the two chaired which faced the Admiral's desk.

"Between Stardates 63068.0245 and 63071.1230 the transponder signal of five Starfleet vessels went dead. After a thorough analysis of the situation it has been concluded that all are the result of an unknown force making its way into Federation space," the Admiral explained without delay. The words of the profilers echoed in his mind, a constant reminder of the one hour time frame they possessed to have a slight chance to save the LANCELOT. "I am dispatching the ANUBIS to intercept this threat," Koneki added as he pivoted on his heal to face the sitting Captain. "You are to gather as much data as possible before you use all available means to halt the process of this attack. The ANUBIS is to depart *immediately*."

Given the emphasis the Admiral had placed on his last word it had been obvious to the young woman that there had been no time for questions, arguments or even protocol. So with a quick nod of her head the redhead took her leave of the NEW ALEXANDRIA's senior most officer and made her way out to the reception area.

"Welcome back Captain Rikar," Allyson greeted the exiting Commanding Officer. "I hope that your meeting with Admiral Koneki went well. As per the Admiral's request your crew has been transported back to the ANUBIS."

Before the crimson hair woman could even think about a comment on what the blonde receptionist had said, Sabrina felt the ever so familiar tingle of a transporter beam on her body.

The young woman materialized to find the ANUBIS' Senior Staff already present in the room, most of them still standing about with an expression of confusion and bewilderment engraved upon their features. Trained as they were, every officer present held on to their questions and took their seat certain that an explanation from their CO would be shortly forthcoming.

"In the last three days five Federation ships have been destroyed by what is guessed to be a single attack force," the Captain cautiously announced as she mentally reviewed their orders. "Our task is to intercept this threat, gather as much Intel as possible before we send it back from where it came from as spare parts.

"How long do we have to get the ship ready?" Ensign Thomas inquired. As the ANUBIS' Chief of Operations the question had been of the utmost importance for him so as to establish priorities in regards to supplies and preparations.

"We will be leaving as soon as this meeting is concluded," the redhead replied before shifting her gaze onto the imposing Oltharian. "Lt. Fairborn, I will need you in Engineering… time is of the utmost importance and we will need to push the engines well past their recommended limits.

"Understood Captain," Elan replied promptly and calmly, the Chief Engineer not having been a stranger to such situations.

"Maya, you and Enaii need to review what little information, if any, is available on this," the CO continued, not wasting a single second.  "The Admiral was rather in a rush to send us on our way, so I am guessing that either the data had already been downloaded into the ANUBIS' computer or we are heading into this totally blind. The only thing I know for certain is that we are faced with a threat of unknown strength and number."

The ILO took in a deep breath and closed her eyes for a brief moment, as if debating the possibility that the Admiral had intentionally withheld information from them.

"Doctor," Sabrina added as she turned her attention to the ANUBIS' CMO. "We are heading into a combat situation, we will need all of your personnel to be ready for any and every contingency.

"We will be ready," the CMO stated with assurance even though she had been somewhat worried by the lack of information they faced.

The CO took a moment to meet the inquiring gaze of her senior officers, dismayed that she could not answer any of their questions. "I truly wish I could give you more, but for now our immediate priority is to get the ANUBIS underway… dismissed."

The Senior Officer had quickly made their way to their respective stations in preparations for the mission that had been given to them. Rikar had taken her place in the center chair to wait as patiently as possible for more details to be made available.

"Captain," the COO called from his station located to the left of the Bridge. "Flight coordinates have been received from NEW ALEXANDRIA… we are to proceed to the GUMBARA Nebula."

"Helm, set course for the GUMBARA Nebula," the Captain commanded from her chair as she accessed all available data on their destination while she continued. "Ensign Thomas, get the ANUBIS underway… Bridge to Main Engineering."

=/\= Engineering, Fairborn here Captain, =/\= The Oltharian CEO replied, his voice still as calm and collected as could be.

"We have our destination… travel time is 32 hours if we can maintain transwarp 7 velocity for more than half that time..." the CO stated having already expected the giant's next words.

=/\= I will make sure that we sustain Transwarp 7 or better for longer than that Captain, =/\= Elan replied with a certainty that only he could have managed.

"Releasing umbilical connections," the COO announced. "Retracting all mooring clamps… engaging forward thrusters… now.

Slowly the massive form of the USS ANUBIS began to move away from its home within the hidden Intel complex to make its way to the still closed gigantic armoured doors In order to reduce the odds of detection to their absolute minimum, the doors could only be open at the very last moment, a manoeuvre that could rattle the most veteran of Officers.

The space doors filled the main view screen for several moments as the ANUBIS drew closer before they finally showed some sign of life and began to part to reveal the floating asteroids and colourful gases of the GIZA Nebula.

"Reading space doors at 22 meters from the outer hull," the COO relayed with a distinct hint of uneasiness in his voice.

The redheaded woman simply smiled for a brief moment as she accepted this to be the only moment of respite they would likely enjoy for the duration of this mission.
