Entering the already occupied Holodeck 2, Hex looked at the scene before feeling the immediate compulsion to stare at her feet. The Ensign wasn’t shy, per say, she had just never spoken to the other Ensigns aboard the LANCELOT yet, and her first meeting was a bit of a surprise. Having just been relieved of her first shift, she was intrigued with the idea of spending a day back home, in theory anyway, on Kzinti Prime. Although the Starfleet officer didn’t recognize her surrounding, her eyes took in the sight of the water longingly. How long had it been since she last had a swim?

Before entering however, the ever vigilant fur ball decided to “examine” the other Ensign first. Akira, that was her name or Ensign Mitshiba as she was formally known. Hex remembered seeing her on board, at the Science station, but never making eye contact or having spoken with the intriguing new comrade. Akira was a very pretty Terran. The Science major had shoulder length black hair and brown eyes. Those brown eyes were watching her now, waiting for some response to her invitation.

After making her observations, as she was taught to do before entering any situation, Hex hesitantly walked further into the Holodeck, hearing the doors close behind her. “Ensign Mitshiba, I apologize for intruding…” was all the Kzinti could say, she was always uncomfortable when first meeting someone new.

"Not at all, I'm the one who invited you" the young officer stated with a smile.

Hex watched as her newest acquaintance swam in the water. She was eager to join, but now shy, yes definitely shy, at having met another officer in such a manner. The fur on her neck rose, was this an invitation to be friends? No one had ever asked that of her before. Warmed by this new thought, the Kzinti slowly waded into the water next to her new companion.

The girls talked about nothing in particular, their shifts and Academy majors/minors, which Hex was very simple about. She disliked telling people things about her in detail, it gave people too much power over her, and had backfired before. The Kzinti stuck to the bare minimal she could reveal, but remained honest, merely changing subject when asked to clarify a point. The Ensign would soon learn to trust these people, and she desperately wanted to...but she needed time. Time, it seemed, was all she ever really had to watch for.
