The young woman took a moment to confirm her heading and to insure that Ensign Thomas had not fallen behind.  As Rikar glanced back the CO was delighted to see the ANUBIS’ COO had not only kept pace but seemed more than ready to press on.

"I kind of enjoy these training exercises," Elliot admitted as he sprung to the redheaded woman’s side on top of a small boulder.  "You don’t have to worry about some creepy alien like the Borg or Species 8472 suddenly sneaking up on you."

The Captain of the ANUBIS had to hold back her amusement.  "No disrespect meant Ensign," the young woman began, "but I would love to be as innocent as you right about now.  Knowing Admiral Koneki as I do, I can assure you that we would be lucky if the Borg *and* Species 8472 were the *only* things we had to be concerned about during this exercise."

Rear Admiral Charles M. Koneki stood in the middle of the large room, his arms folded across his chest and his attention divided on the handful of monitors each focussed on one or more of the ANUBIS’ officers currently engaged in the exercise he had ordered them to take.  A discontent sigh escaped from the man as his gaze locked on the team comprised of the Commanding Officer and Chief of Operations.

"Admiral," Lt. Drenall inquired, "should we initiate phase 1 of the Borg/8472 combat program now?"  The Vidian woman hid her amusement well to the fact that Captain Rikar had nailed the NEW ALEXANDRIA’s highest ranking officer’s plan so perfectly.

"No," Koneki growled, obviously unhappy with the latest development.  "Scrap the whole program for now… let them sweat it out.  I’m heading back to my office… will contact you as soon as I have something different to throw at them."

The Vidian allowed only a brief smile to cross her lips as the Admiral left the control room, clearly unimpressed.

"Either Captain Rikar is getting better at this game or the Admiral is slipping," Lieutenant Commander Nabus, the Andorian Chief of Security for the NEW ALEXANDRIA complex said with a grin.  "I'm glad I didn’t take that bet with Quint, he was sure someone from the ANUBIS would correctly predict what the Admiral had in store for them."

"Captain," Ensign Elliot called out from a few meters to the CO’s right, something had obviously caught his attention.
"What is it Ensign," the redheaded woman inquired as she turned to face in the COO’s direction.
The 6 foot, 3 inches man pointed to a small hill to their right as he replied to his Captain's query, "Saw something moving over there as it came over that hill.  It was brief but there is no doubt that there was something there.  Either it moved really quickly or it fell and rolled down the hill, either way we can’t see it any more."

"What is your suggestion Ensign?” The ANUBIS’ CO asked although it had been easy to see that Sabrina had already made up her mind as to what their next course of action would be.

"If it's a foe we need to intercept it and bring the fight to it," the Ensign firmly stated as he placed a hand on the 18 inch hunting blade he had brought along for the exercise.  "If on the other hand it is one of our people, it would not hurt to regroup thus increasing our odds of successfully dealing with whatever the Admiral decided to throw our way."

"Well said ensign," Sabrina nodded with a smile as she invited the COO to take point in their new direction… towards the distant hill.
