Setting: NEW ALEXANDRIA, Section H, Level 8, Training Holodeck 1
Stardate: 63070.2100

As a dedicated Scientist the Shillian had always enjoyed being surrounded by the sites and smells of nature, drawn by the simplest of flora to admire and study even if only for the briefest of moment. Because of this aspect of her character the Chief Science Officer of the USS ANUBIS had wasted no time in losing herself in the simulated world created by Admiral Koneki, a world that had provided an abundant array of uncommon vegetation for any wilderness inclined person to enjoy.

It had been several hours into the exercise that the Shillian Scientist had been promptly reminded of the core aspect of this mission, along with a reminder of how devious the Admiral could be. The Chief Science Officer had approached a rather odd looking set of wild flowers out of sheer curiosity only to be attacked by several rapidly moving constricting vines. Obviously some of the vegetation on this imaginary world had been made to be predatorily, maybe even at a carnivore level, but still the Scientist had not been able to find it within in to change her ways, even after a narrow escape.

The Shillian had quickly reasoned that the discovery of some unique property of certain flora might aid in the completion of their mission, either through medicinal values or simply for their nutritional qualities. Within a few hours, the head scientist of the USS ANUBIS had managed to find a cure for her hunger as well as a soothing ointment for the cuts and scrapes she had suffered from the several unpleasant floral encounters.

With nightfall came the need to seek shelter, a task that had proven to be a difficult one given the current elements which surrounded the Chief Science Officer, mainly an impressive forest of large trees which offered little overhead cover. Thus far the Shillian had not encountered any visible signs of wildlife, but to assume that none had been present had not been a hypothesis the scientist had been ready to make, so the need to seek higher ground had been of great importance. After a rapid search of the area, and having used the one item the Scientist had brought along, her tricorder, the Shillian had managed to find a small cave hidden behind several trees.

Although not overly happy with having to forego higher ground, the Scientist had been happy to gain the security of an enclosed area, one that had shown no signs of having been previously occupied. Sheltered from the elements, the Shillian made the best of what she had found and prepared to retire for the night while she contemplated the discovery of new plant forms in the days to come.

and a heaven in a wild flower.
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
and eternity in an hour."
